August!

I can't believe its already nine days into august! It feels like the summer just started.. I'm not looking forward to the fall weather. I'd rather it be warm so I can go to the pool forever!

I am looking forward to the fact that my online physio class ends saturday! Then I have approximately 8 days off before I start my fall classes. At least I've got a few days. I'm hoping to fit in some pool time and reading for pleasure!

We've been busy for the past few weeks. We had my nephew's sixth birthday. Then a bunch of preparation for my niece's first birthday. My grandparents from Florida were here for a week, staying with us. I did a photo shoot for my niece's first birthday and finished a great surprise gift for my sister.

I went to registration for my nursing classes and bought all of my millions of textbooks for this semester. I got my nursing tote in the mail which is all of my medical supplies like IV tubing, fake meds, foley catheter kit, etc. I'm pretty excited about it. But I won't get to use any of it until October when my fundamentals class starts. I'm not looking forward to how many classes I'll be taking this fall. It's going to be a lot of work.

My schedule this fall:
1st 8 weeks:
- Human Nutrition
- Professional Nursing Concepts
- Abnormal Psychology
- Professional Roles
2nd 8 weeks:
- Fundamentals of Nursing clinical
- Dosage Calculations
All Semester:
- Pathophysiology
- Pharmacology

It's gonna be busy... Well I'm off to work on physio.

Friday Funday aka Baby Madness

I spent probably 6 hours today reading adoption blogs when I wasn't taking care of my niece. Seriously.. I chatted with my friend Heather this morning (also probably the only one reading this) and she showed me some new ones. I mean I've already got a ton that I've read or continue to read but she showed me more. And huge families at that. with 5-9 kids. So jealous.

Seriously my dream is to have 4-6 kids. I know that this is insane and probably won't happen but we'll see.. My friend and I talked about how much we think about/read about/research kids/adoption/babies/sperm to buy (in my case only). She may have also called me crazier than her for shopping for sperm online. What??? That's normal for a 21 year old right?

I know, I know. That's not normal. But whatever.. I'll just look at all this time reading these blogs as great preparation for when I actually have/adopt kids. Mostly I just read them, look at their adorable kids and want to cry from jealousy over the pregnant women in the doctor's office yesterday. (Uh yeah.. kinda sucked being one of the only non-pregnant ones there).

But I took time away from my obsessive blog reading to take care of my 5 month old niece. Seriously I love that kid. Even when she refuses to sleep even though she's so tired. I also spent some time outside with her because she loves to be outside and it was a balmy 60 degrees here today! I talked with the neighbor girls next door about my dogs and then their mom. I also looked at my websites for my classes that start monday and my chem teacher has finally updated it and of course I need a book that I didn't really know I needed by wednesday. Gr. But I think that I can get it at the bookstore on Monday. BLEH. Stupid school, I am so over you.

I am definitely not looking forward to being on campus for 6-10 hours two days a week. How the heck am I going to pay attention for that long? Geeze. I also really need to get my school supplies together and get organized for this semester. I'm also pretty sure I'm supposed to read some stuff in my books for monday. Double bleh.

Who'd have thought it would be warm enough for bare feet in January in central Indiana?

Until next time..

Done some little mini photoshoots with Emerie. I can't believe that she's already a month old!

Other than that I've been going to class and studying my life away.

Happy weekend!

Emerie's Birth Day!

I was so incredibly lucky to witness my niece’s birth yesterday! My sister called us yesterday, she had been at work (at the hospital) and she said that she was going upstairs because she thought her water had broken. They did some tests to check and sure enough it had broken. We drove up and got there about noon. My mom and I grabbed some lunch from downstairs and came back up. Her doctor came back in and checked Amber again. She was still 4 cm and the Doc ruptured the little sack of water that was still intact.

Amber decided that she wanted to get her epidural then and her nurse called the staff anesthesiologist. It took a bit for him to get up there and then it took a while for him to get set up. At this point they already had Amber sitting up on the bed in position for the epidural. He was able to give her the numbing shot before putting in the big needle. But she said that she felt like she needed to push. She kept saying she needed to push and the anesthesiologist looked like he wanted absolutely nothing to do with delivering a baby. He kept backing away from Amber and putting his hands in the air. He kept saying isn’t she only at 4 cm??

They quickly paged her doctor, took her bed apart and got her in position to push. Her doctor came in out of breath from running across the hospital to get there and deliver her. She checked her and Amber started pushing. She ended up only pushing for about 30 minutes and then Emerie was there.

Since she was only 36 weeks, 6 days, Emerie was considered premature so they had to have the whole Peds team there. Luckily they checked Emerie out and everything was fine. They measured her, wrapped her up and handed her to Amber.

It was so awesome to watch, and not gross at all like I thought it might be. It was so amazing how she got through it even without the epidural. She was a rockstar.

Emerie Leighann born at 2:41 pm. 5 lb 6 oz. 19 3/4 in.

She's a tiny little things and doesn't fit into any of her newborn clothes yet!
