Springgg

Fairly recent picture of me.

Hey there

It’s been a while since I blogged. I guess I should try to be better but I find that I really don’t have that much to say most of the time.

It’s coming down to the lasts stretch of my senior year. I’m so ready to graduate college! Even though I’ll have about 11 days off before I start taking an online class this summer. Since I’m going back to school for a second bachelors, this time in nursing, next fall I won’t really be leaving the college lifestyle. New city, new school. Even though I’m kind of tired of school I also really enjoy being a student and I’m excited and scared about all the science classes I’m going to take the next couple semesters.

So far my schedule looks like this:

Summer – lifespan development

Fall – Anatomy and lab, Intro to Micriobio and lab, Biology of Women

Spring – Physiology and lab, Micriobio & Immunology and lab, Stats

So my plan as of now is to take the pre-reqs for the accelerated BSN and then I’ll hopefully be admitted into the program in fall of ’12. Which means I’ll graduate in May of ’14. Woohoo. After that I’ll probably get work in a hospital for a couple of years before eventually going back to school for a masters in nurse-midwifery. At least that’s the plan as of right now. We’ll see how much it changes..

Other than that I’m trying to focus on all of my schoolwork that’s due in the next month. I really need to get good grades for this semester.

The weather has been warm for quite a while although its rainy today. I’m hoping it will be nice this weekend so I can get in some sun tanning time.

Anyways, I’m off to write a paper for my dance class.

Musings

About this time every February I start this intense longing for summer. All I can think about is lying in the sun, going to the beach (which I normally don’t even like that much) and going swimming. It hasn’t even been that cold here lately. This whole week the high has been around 70, and I guess that’s what’s doing it.

Most days Landis Green is full of people lying in the sun. I’m so jealous, I wish I had time to go lay out. I miss being tan. I also just miss not having to do anything. Although I worked all last summer.. so I did have to go to work. And I’ll have to work this summer, but hopefully I’ll still be able to find enough time to spend time outside.

I also really love summer because it’s the only time I can just consume book after book. During the school year I’m always forced to read books for my class, so I love being able to cross books off my mile long “to read” list.

This summer I’m looking forward to:
- Soaking up some sun
- Swimming
- Going to the beach
- Reading as much as possible
- Getting a job in the hospital (yes I’m even excited about a job)
- Being as lazy as possible

I still don’t think it’s really sunken in that I’m graduating at the end of April, it seems like I just started here. But I’m not complaining. I’m so done with this city and I’m excited to have my degree. And it’s not like that much will change, since I’ll most likely be back at school in the fall getting my pre-nursing stuff out of the way. Then I’ll be in nursing school, so I’ll still be a “student” for the next two and half or three years.

Its kind of nice to know that I don’t have to give up my comfortable status as a student quite yet. I mean, I’ll only be 21 when I graduate so I guess that’s why. I still have no idea where I’ll be for school, although I’m pretty much assuming at this point that it will be Indiana. It’s the better school, and I’ll end up with a better degree. Its just hard to leave Florida. I don’t even know why I feel like I have to stay here and why I’m so attached to the state. I mean, I have lived here for 10 years… I don’t know. We’ll see..

Since I graduate on April 29, I’ll have the whole month of May off, and I don’t know that I’ll be working that much, so I hope I can spend as much time as possible outside, swimming, reading, etc.

We’ll see what the future brings.

oops.

Where did I go??
I guess you might be wondering this. I don’t really know. I mean I’ve been here, even on blogger reading all the blogs I follow I just haven’t posted in a long time. I don’t know. Its sort of time consuming to write posts.

But I finished last semester. Came out with all A’s and B’s, on the dean’s list. I started my last semester of school and I’ll be graduating on April 29. So beyond happy. Unfortunately in order to graduate I’m taking 18 credit hours this semester… so it might kill me. Hopefully not.

We went to Indiana for Christmas and to Orlando a few weeks later to go to Harry Potter with a few friends.

I don’t have much left in me to write so I’ll just be sure to post lots of pictures.

Jani's Journey

Jani’s Journey

“UCLA diagnosed Jani with child onset schizophrenia. When in a psychotic state, no one could reach Jani. She would bite the furniture until her mouth bled because she said it made her teeth feel better. She tried to jump out the window at UCLA.

The worst part was the fear that we were losing our daughter forever, losing the bright and happy child she had been, and we were powerless to stop it.

We only have one dream, and it is that Jani is still around for us to hold in twenty years.

We want two things; to keep Jani alive and to allow her enough happiness that she wants to stay alive.”

Please go to their website and read the full story of Jani’s struggle (Jani’s dad writes an AMAZING, eye opening blog). Even if you can’t donate any money to her family at least become informed (They’re struggling financially while trying to maintain two apartments to keep Jani and her little brother Bodhi safe and trying to continue Jani’s equine therapies that help her so much).

Pass this story on to other people. Make people aware of what families go through dealing with mental illness.

Even if all you do is share this story, help people discover what so many families fight against.

Well, well

Well, long time no post. I’m not even sure why… since I haven’t really been doing that much.

I’ve been reading lots of Jane Austen for my class and writing papers and studying for tests. We joined Netflix so we’ve also been watching lots of movies. Mostly Jane Austen, but some other stuff. I watched The Business of Being Born. It was soooo good. So interesting and I loved getting a different point of view than the normal hospital birth view.

I’m gearing up and trying to get some school stuff out the way this month because I’m going to attempt to do NaNoWriMo again in November. Which means that all of my free time will be gone. Haha. Oh well.

Anyway enjoy the recent pictures. :)

Midway Point!

Half way through September already!! Where is the freaking fall weather when you want it? It's still incredibly hot in Florida. Holy cow. Ready for the cool breezes of fall. Or at least cooler. I bought a nice knit hat for this winter that I'm excited to wear! And I was shopping for scarves the other day. I'm so ready.

Haven't been doing too much. I joined netflix so I've been watching a lot of movies. Which I like. Doing schoolwork.

Reading a lot, mostly for school. But I'm trying to find time to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest too. I'm sort of addicted to the Millenium series!

I haven't taken very many pictures lately! Which is really bad of me. We went to Disney World and I have a few pictures from there which I'll hopefully upload.

Well, off to sleep.

So close

I was so close to finishing August Break, but I missed a few days... and oh well. One more day of classes this week then a long weekend in Disney! I'm beyond excited.

Went to the gym today to work out and swim laps. Woot. Now my hair is wet and needs to be washed. I would also assume that's why my knee hurts... LAME.

Anytime it would like to start getting cooler here.. I'm okay with that. I would really prefer it. It is so dang hot waiting for the bus.

Well off to watch 500 Days of Summer and/or read.
